Uninhabited islands
Isla Lobos and Ochoa Beach
Isla Lobos is a small uninhabited island of approximately 6 hectares (15 acres), located off the northwest coast of San Cristobal. It can be reached in approximately half an hour from the port of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno.
Isla Lobos excursion
Upon arrival, visitors will find a dry landing and, after a few steps along the lava-strewn coast, a fine 1 km long trail that takes them past colonies of frigate birds, blue-footed boobies, and Nazca boobies. Arrive at the right time, (approx. March -Sept.) and courtship or nesting, behaviour will likely be seen.
Both species of eared seals (Otariidae) found in the archipelago are usually present on the island, the Galapagos sea lion (Zalophus wollebaeki), and the slightly smaller and rarer Galapagos fur seal (Arctocephalus galapagoensis) - this latter animal generally favouring more rocky and shady places.
After the land excursion, it’s time to snorkel (max. duration 1 hour) and, hopefully, meet the sea lions in the water!
Ochoa Beach
For the final section of the trip, the boat sets off for the turquoise waters of Playa Ochoa. Here, you will anchor and enjoy a delicious lunch before disembarking on the dazzling white beach to walk, relax or perhaps continue exploring in the sea, accompanied by your guide. After a stop-over of about an hour, the boat returns to town. Note - Please remember to bring sunscreen and insect repellent with you on this trip.
