North Seymour Channel
Seymour channel is one of the most popular dive sites due to its good activity and proximity to Santa Cruz Island. From Itabaca Channel (in the north of Santa Cruz) it is a short 25 minute boat ride to the dive site. Various sharks, rays and reef fish can be expected. The hammerhead sharks also like to come by. A special highlight are the garden eels, hundreds of which peek out of the sandy bottom.

Location
North Seymour is located 25 minutes from the Itabaca Channel and was formed by an uplift of the main volcano (Santa Cruz Island), which explains the flat profile of the island.

Dive conditions
Seymour channel usually has moderate, sometimes surprisingly strong currents. The dive site is suitable for all levels of experience.
You descend close to the island down to the sandy bottom at about 20 - 25 meters. Garden eels inhabit the sandy ground, schools of eagle rays float past you, and occasionally golden rays, too.
During the dive, the water becomes gradually shallower until you reach a rocky reef (12 meters) where the current is usually a little stronger and the white tip sharks rest.
Also sand dwellers like stingrays and flounders are found here. On the way to the reef, the group zigzags out into the open water and back to look for pelagic sharks.
