Pinzón
Snorkeling/Game Fishing Day Tour
The island of Pinzon is centrally located in the Galapagos archipelago, about an hour west of Santa Cruz. The 18 km2 island is uninhabited and has no land access. This tour takes you to the coast of the island for a rich snorkeling experience.
Pinzon & La Fe Bay
At approximately 8:00 AM, the tour departs from the main pier in Puerto Ayora towards La Fe Bay to discover its flora and fauna, such as marine iguanas, sea lions, and mangroves. On a large breakwater, frigate birds, blue-footed boobies, and Sally lightfoot crabs frolic. After this shore excursion, snacks and drinks are available on board and the journey continues to Pinzon. On the way there, we find the Roca sin nombre, where there are many birds to observe and a first opportunity to fish. Still on the way to Pinzon, we circle the "Pan de Azucar" rock to see what birds await us there. Perhaps even a Galapagos hawk! Here, too, if the group is interested in fishing, there is another good opportunity to fish for cod, yellowfin tuna, or permit.
Circling Pinzon along the steep coastline offers the opportunity to observe and photograph blue-footed boobies, frigate birds, pelicans, marine iguanas, and sea lions. Sharks, sea turtles, and reef fish can usually be spotted from the boat in the island's clear coastal waters. Then it's off into the water! Pinzon is known as one of the best snorkeling spots for day trips: white-tip sharks, sea lions, eagle rays, stingrays, sea turtles, and possibly even a small colony of penguins can be observed. The exact snorkeling spots at Pinzón will be selected on site by the captain and the naturalist guide. The spots in and around Penguin Bay are usually chosen. Explore nature on 2 snorkeling dives, the well-maintained snorkel masks and fins are provided on board. After the activity, everyone strengthens themselves with a delicious lunch.
With a strong interest in fishing, guests can try their luck again to catch a wahoo, yellowfin tuna, or a sea bream fish in shoals before returning to Puerto Ayora after a one-hour boat ride.
