Gordon Rocks

Gordon Rocks
$290 per person
Gordon Rocks is a world-renowned dive site for sightings of schools of hammerhead sharks and larger pelagics in general. Different species of rays and sharks, but also a variety of reef fish can be expected. The occurrence of very strong currents and the few visual references make it a challenging dive site, suitable for divers with at least 25 dives of experience or a previous evaluation at other dive sites. It is located about 1 hour east of Santa Cruz Island.

- Open Water diver or higher, a minimum of 25 dives experience or a prior evaluation of the dive skills at other sites is required.

Punta Cormorant

Punta Cormorant

Punta Cormorant is a dive site for spotting unique animals like the red lipped batfish, or the Galapagos searobin and is also always good for surprises. A regular feature of the dives there are playful sea lions, eagle rays, marbled rays, octopus, green turtles and a variety of reef fish. The dive site forms the northern tip of Floreana Island, 2 hours south of Santa Cruz Island.

Champion Islet

Champion Islet

Champion Islet is one of the best places for play with sea lions and a wonderful place to witness special phenomena such as the gathering of large schools of ememic Salema fish. It is a quite colorful dive sites due to the amount of gorgonians and sponges. Sightings of green turtles, sting rays, marbled rays, white tip sharks and a variety of reef fish are an integral part of the dive. Champion Islet is a small offshore islet in northwest Floreana, 2 hours south of Santa Cruz Island.

North Seymour Channel

North Seymour Channel

Seymour channel is one of the most popular dive sites due to its good activity and proximity to Santa Cruz Island. From Itabaca Channel (in the north of Santa Cruz) it is a short 25 minute boat ride to the dive site. Various sharks, rays and reef fish can be expected. The hammerhead sharks also like to come by. A special highlight are the garden eels, hundreds of which peek out of the sandy bottom.

North Seymour Point

North Seymour Point

Seymour Point, like Seymour Channel, is a popular dive site because of its good activity and the relatively short boat ride (30 minutes from Itabaca Canal north of Santa Cruz Island). The moderate currents combined with a good chance of seeing hammerhead sharks also make this dive site very interesting. White tip sharks, Galapagos sharks, hammerhead sharks, a variety of rays, and green sea turtles are some of the most commonly seen wildlife.

Bartolome

Bartolome

The small island of Bartolome, off the coast of its big brother Santiago, is particularly famous for its pinnacle rock, but is also home to a beautiful diving spot. The dive is relatively easy and mainly takes place on a large sandy, rocky platform at a depth of about 10 meters. Whitetip sharks, green turtles, stingrays, marbled rays, mobulas, starfish, are among the permanent inhabitants of this diving spot. This dive site is located about 1.5 hours from the Itabaca Channel, north of Santa Cruz.

Cousins Rock

Cousins Rock

A hidden gem that few experienced and well-informed divers ask for directly, it is highly appreciated by dive guides and dive cruises alike for its rich marine life. In addition to whitetip sharks, Galapagos sharks, green turtles, different species of rays (manta rays in the cold season), and sea lions, it is particularly the macro life such as seahorses, and reef fish that makes this dive site so special. It is located 1.5 hours from Itabaca Channel (15 minutes from Bartolome).

Mosquera South

Mosquera South

Mosquera Islet resembles a large sandbank and is located between North Seymour and Baltra, which is why its dive sites are often combined with the Seymour dive sites. In terms of popularity, they are in no way inferior to their neighboring sites: Hammerhead sharks, Galapagos sharks, whitetip sharks, different species of rays, the curious garden eels and many reef fish can be expected there. Mosquera is located north of Baltra, 25 minutes from the Itabaca Channel.

Mosquera North

Mosquera North

Mosquera Islets dive sites are very popular as they combine moderate currents with a good chance of seeing hammerhead sharks. In general, the activity there is varied and good: Hammerhead sharks, blacktip sharks, whitetip sharks, different species of rays, hundreds of garden eels and many reef fish can be expected there. Mosquera is located north of Baltra, 25 minutes from the Itabaca Channel.

Punta Carrion

Punta Carrion

Punta Carrion is a good place to start diving due to it´s protected area at the end of the Itabaca Channel, calm sea, and no currents at the sandy - rocky bottom full of marine life before reaching the gorge exposed to the currents with great conditions for spotting pelagic species like Galapagos and blak tip sharks. The boat ride from the pier on the channel only takes about 10 minutes.

Daphne

Daphne

Daphne Minor is a wonderfully colorful dive site with a variety of topographies and nature: Whitetip sharks, stingrays, mobulas, sea lions, green turtles, many many reef fishes like bonito tuna, trumpet fish, parrot fish and barracudas, and macro life like seahorses and Galapagos blennies can be spotted. An unjustly little-known, beautiful dive site that our group always has all to itself. The island is located about 40 minutes northwest of the Itabaca Channel.

What’s included in our daily diving tours?

- 2 Dives per Day
- 2 x 12 ltr tanks normal air PADI Open Water (or equivalent certification from other recognized dive institutions) is sufficient for participation at all dive sites
- Small Groups
- Max. 5 divers/guide for a safe and great experience underwater.
- Professional and Experienced Crew
- Spanish/English speaking dive guides authorized by the National Park Galápagos, all PADI instructors with many years of experience in local waters. Attentive and service-oriented staff with many years of experience in the diving business.
- Check dive
- A short weight and gear check in shallow waters (Galapagos waters require more neoprene and weights than you may be used to). Quick skills refresher if it´s been a while since your last dive.
- Complete Dive Gear
- 5 or 7mm wetsuit, regulator (yoke) with pressure and depth gauge, BCD, mask, fins, boots, hood, cotton gloves, weight belt and 2 air tanks.
- Food and more
- Hot lunch (delicious local/ international food, specialties such as vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free food are possible), snacks and fruits, table water, juice and tea. Towel service.

- The itinerary may change due to National Park dispositions or circumstances beyond our control.
- The dive schedule is fixed by the Galapagos National Park so that certain sites are not visited or damaged excessively. Scuba Iguana dive in a respectful manner in a way we can preserve the environment. Therefore if you are keen to book at popular sites like Gordon Rocks, please let us know as early as possible.

Timeline of the Dive Day
If you would like to, you can book the following extra services with us.

The meeting point is at Scuba Iguana where there will be a quick run-down of what the day will look like over tea, coffee or hot chocolate (to give you that extra energy for the day)

For most dive sites we travel by taxi to the Itabaca Channel (on the North side of Santa Cruz) – a 45 minute drive – and then by boat to our dive site (45- 90 minutes depending on the site).

10:15
Dive time! Our guides will have briefed you as you get close to the site so that when we arrive we can gear up and go.

11:15
We surface after approximately an hours dive and warm up with some hot drinks and snacks to boost our energy for round two.

12:15
Dive time! Usually at a second site, our team brief you once more and we dive again to shallower depths for approximately an hour.

13:15
We surface for the last time, dry off completely, have a hot lunch and trade stories on the way back to the shore.

15:00
We arrive back at Scuba Iguana where we go through your log books, photos and any unanswered questions.
